Assisi

This week we decided to make a day trip to Assisi since it’s only 20 minutes by train and a short bus trip to the old center. We were riding the mini metro to the station when we heard a man asking someone which stop to get off for the train in English. The young woman told him she was going there and would show him the way. When we got to the train platform we saw him standing there and introduced ourselves and found out he was also going to Assisi for the day. We sat together on the train and learned Thomas was from Sweden and had done his research so he knew what to see in town. That turned out to be fortunate for us because we really had no itinerary and had planned to just wander through the town and explore whatever we saw for a few hours and then have lunch at a restaurant recommended by locals. While we were waiting for the bus Thomas chatted up a tour guide and found out the best route to see all the places on his itinerary. We tagged along for a while and then split up and headed off on our own.

After hitting most of the must see sites we decided to find the restaurant and have lunch. To our surprise, Thomas joined us and we had an enjoyable lunch chatting together. The food at Osteria Piazzetta dell’Erba was delicious. After lunch we split off to see more of the architecture and art before heading back to Perugia. Hope you enjoy the video!
